Watch Out!

Something out there is after you, and if you are not careful, it will catch you without your being aware that you were even caught. And what's after you? Well, what are some of the messages and attitudes that continually bombard you in your daily life? Violence, commercialism, excessive individualism, emphasis on irresponsible pleasure, cavalier attitudes toward honesty, these are a few of the suggestions that consistently pollute all of our lives. To what extent have you been influenced by them? Watch out! You may be partially hooked without knowing it. Only a thoroughly honest and wakeful conscience will ever know.

"Be alert, be on watch! Your enemy, the Devil, roams around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Be firm in your faith and resist him"(1 Pt 5:8-9). Our devils prowl among us in contemporary form. Have you been able to detect them and to resist?

Keep me watchful, Lord, that I may do nothing to mar my consciousness of your presence.
